The Bible tells us that God connects to people in many ways, however, scripture clearly highlights three primary ways God promises His grace in the lives of His people: His Word, Baptism and Jesus’ Supper. All three are mysterious earthly means or ways in which God shows up in the lives of His people with the promise of forgiveness, hope and everlasting life.
In Baptism, God promises forgiveness of sins (Acts 22:16) and the gift of His Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). Our old sinful nature is put to death and God raises us to new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-5). This is why we’re willing to baptize anyone who desires it. From the adult who has heard Jesus’ Word and, like the Ethiopian in Acts 8:36, desired baptism immediately, to the parents that bring their newborn child to receive the Holy Spirit, Baptism is God’s gift of promise for all.
Baptism is a beautifully sacred way to connect at ILM and whether it’s your first or next step in joining the journey of faith and following Jesus, we stand ready to help connect you to Jesus and His church.
